Our session will be

  • Personalized

In each session, the content will be tailored to close previously identified knowledge gaps. The sessions will be a response to areas requiring improvement, with support given in a non-judgemental way.

  • Targeted

Allocated tasks will be targeted to the individual’s unique learning needs. All tasks, which are aligned with the national curriculum, will reinforce foundational knowledge and build on new learning experiences.

  • Integrative

Conversations are encouraged. Feedback is a two-way exercise to provide support and direction. Solutions are modelled, allowing the students to see good practice, thereby providing opportunities to gain maximum marks. With relaxed communication, the student will not only improve in confidence, but also in academic performance.

What I will provide

As a Mathematics teacher I deliver lessons across the Key Stage 2 to Key Stage 5 age range. Typically, each session lasts for one hour, however the client is free to increase or decrease the duration pro rata.

KS2 (Primary school)

The main focus for the key Stage 2 students is SATs preparation. The students focus on mastering topics on the Arithmetic and Reasoning Papers. All relevant topics are covered and practised.

KS3 (secondary school)

These lessons provide long term results for students in Years 7 to 9: Each session relates to reinforcing fundamental skills through ‘intelligent practise’ in essential mathematical concepts. This leads to mathematical fluency.

KS4 (gcse)

These sessions are designed to be exam preparation sessions for the GCSE exams. Lessons are delivered in depth, working at the pace of the learner. The students practice on past paper questions.

KS5 (a level)

AS and A level topics are covered. Including Pure Maths Year 1 (C1 and C2), Pure Maths Year 2 (C3 and C4), Applied Maths Statistics (S1).

Adult Learning

These sessions are designed to improve confidence and help boost numeracy and calculation skills. Many of the skills covered are those used in everyday life and work.

These sessions can also be preparation for further study, helping those requiring a Grade 4 at GCSE or equivalent to attain the relevant training. I am happy to work on areas specified by the client, or to provide a guided program as required.

  • 1:1 (face to face)

This is the most effective form of tutoring, as there is a greater level of interaction. Teaching is targeted to meet the need of each individual student. Students are provided with a bespoke plan of learning based of their personal learning gaps and misconceptions. Being able to see the way in which topics are approached and dissected is a powerful learning tool. The students can view the correct approach to answering questions as I model the correct method of working. In 1:1 tuition students make rapid and sustained progress.

  • Online

Online tutoring provides convenience and flexibility. There are no distance issues, no travel time and students can choose to work in their own personal relaxed atmosphere. Students can also choose to work with their cameras on or off. Receiving tutoring online, does however require a certain degree of skill with a fundamental understanding of mathematical concepts.

  • Small Group (2-4 students)

These sessions suit students who are not shy, and who do not lack confidence. The size of the group allows students to receive individualised support and feedback. Personalised learning takes place within the group, which fosters a positive learning environment. The sessions are designed to focus on key topics within the Maths curriculum: systematically covering the areas of Number, Algebra, Geometry, Statistics and Probability. These sessions provide opportunities for peer collaboration as well as friendly competition. They are encouraged to speak freely and are encouraged to learn from their mistakes.
